I attended a service event at Interfaith Ministries, and helped to assemble packages for people who do not have reliable access to food. This experience required collaboration because I worked which a group of students from National Honor Society in an assembly line to create food packages, and organized the items so that they are prepared for people to receive. Additionally, we needed to communicate with each other to ensure that we had enough of each item which the packages required. This fulfills the service and action aspects of CAS because around 1300 people rely on these food packages as their primary source of food for the week, and the work of volunteer groups is essential for ensuring that people receive what they need. Also, this required physical activity because we worked for over two hours, and carried crates filled with supplies, as well as the finished packages of food into the loading area of the building. This event fulfills the Learning Outcome: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively, because successfully volunteering at Interfaith Ministries required constant communication and joint effort between all of the students who attended the event.

Watercolour Flowers For Yearbook CREATIVITY LO1
8 February 2020
For the school yearbook, I completed ten watercolor flowers to be included on some of the pages, and to add to the theme of growth which our school yearbook will be based on. Each grade level will be represented by a different color of flower, and they will be used as a background design. This process included remaining in contact with the yearbook committee, and learning about which flowers and which colors they were interested in having. Following this, I created sketches for ten different flowers, and used a combination of acrylic paint and watercolor pencils to create different shades and senses of dimension to complete each of the paintings. This process taught me to develop my artistic skills because I am familiar with using acrylic paint; however, watercolor is a medium which I am less familiar with. Also, this project will have a positive impact on the school community because people who wish to remember this school year with sentiment will also be able to look at the art of a student from that year, which will make the yearbook seem personal. This fulfills the creativity aspect of CAS because I used my creative skills to create the different flowers, and make them look realistic, this also fulfilled the first learning outcome: Identify your own strengths, and develop areas for personal growth, because I developed my skills to use watercolor paint, so that I will be able to create other paintings in the future.

Chinatown Scavenger Hunt ACTION LO5
January 10 2020
Today during the China, The Chinese People, and Chinese Culture J-Term I participated in a group scavenger hunt through Chinatown to learn more about the area's role in the Houston community. During this experience, my group and I walked through Houston's Chinatown and were required to complete a list of tasks which was established by our teacher. Some of those tasks included speaking with various people, and learning about which province in China their family is from. Some other tasks included locating decorations for Chinese New Year, taking photos of some Chinese characters which we recognized, and filming a video with a stranger promoting peace and love. This experience taught me how to work with a team of people to properly and efficiently complete the tasks, and we ensured to have each other's backs so that we remained safe during the process. This fulfills the activity aspect of CAS because we were required to walk several blocks throughout Chinatown, and this fulfills the following learning outcome: Demonstrate skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.
